The Golden Berry goes by several names such as the Cape Gooseberry, Peruvian Ground Cherry, Husk Tomato, Aztec Berry, Inca Berry, Giant Ground Cherry, Peruvian Cherry, Coztomate, Pogapoga, Coztomatl, and Topotopo. They originated in South America, but are widely cultivated and are extremely popular in Africa, Asia, and here in the United States as well. They are dense plants that produce tons of golden husked fruit, especially as the weather heats up.
